Motorcycle Ride

A benefit motorcycle ride will be held July 24. Sign-in starts at 10 a.m. Leave the American Legion in McConnellsburg at noon. Entry fee is $20 per bike. All proceeds benefit Liberty Crouse. More information may be obtained by calling John Rasp at 485-3731 or 658-6547.

Mic Night

Mic night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center, 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg, July 9, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Food and drink will be available. Donation is $1. More information may be obtained by calling 717-294-6020.

Re-Creation To Appear

McConnellsburg Methodist Church invites all to attend Re-Creation’s variety show July 9 at 7 p.m. at the McConnellsburg High School auditorium.

Bluegrass/Gospel Festival

A bluegrass/Gospel music festival will be held at Bedford Chapel Church on Rt. 643, 4570 Flickerville Road, Warfordsburg, July 16, from 4:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. Food stand and cake walks. Entertainment provided by Richard and Mary Fox with Higher Ground, Guildford Station and By Faith Ministries Gospel Singers. Bring lawn chairs.

Wells Tannery Homecoming/Parade

Fire company equipment, antique cars, marching groups, floats, decorated only bikes and ATVs are welcome to participate in the Wells Tannery homecoming on July 30. No paper invitations were mailed. All are welcome. For more info and placement, call 685-3399. The homecoming is July 30 this year. Parade starts at 11 a.m. Music starts at noon. Chicken barbecue, hot roast beef sandwiches, homemade pies and other food served all day. Horseshoe tournament and car show will be held. Raffle drawing will be made at 9 p.m. All are welcome

Free Movie

Free Friday movie July 15 at 6:10 p.m. in the library’s community room. Call or stop in the library to find out what’s playing.

Summer Reading Programs

Summer Reading Programs will feature special guest Jeremy Hollenshead. Programs this week are sponsored by Giant Food Store and will be held Thursday, July 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the Needmore Branch of Tower Bank; Monarch Migration on Tuesday, July 12, at 10 a.m., in the community room of the Fulton County Library; Tuesday, July 12, at 6 p.m. Cove Creek Walk with Scott Alexander – 3 block walking tour; travel to Germany with Pastor Valeria Schmidt on Thursday, July 14, at 2 p.m. All ages welcome. Please bring an old light or white-colored T-shirt for the craft.

Little League Tournaments

Fulton County Little League Tournaments will be held the following weeks: July 11-16 (7- and 8-year-old tournament); July 18-23 (11- and 12-year-old tournament); July 25- 30 (9- and 10-year-old tournament). The games will begin at 6 p.m. every evening, with one game played under the lights on the “Ray Koontz Memorial Field” at Lions Community Park. Come out and watch these young players from around the tri-state area compete. This is a fun time for the whole family.

MHS Soccer Camp

McConnellsburg Soccer Booster Club will sponsor a soccer camp for the McConnellsburg varsity and junior high boys soccer teams for those who will be participating in the 2011 school soccer program. The camp will be held August 8-11, with August 12 as the raindate. Registration will be held July 5 and 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lions Club pavilion. Soccer Registration

Warfordsburg Area Youth Soccer will hold fall registration on Tuesday, July 12, at Warfordsburg Community Park from 6 to 8 p.m. No late registrations can be accepted. If you have any questions, please call 294-3001.

Youth Field Day

Youth Field Day will be held on Saturday, September 17, beginning at 8 a.m., at Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club, McConnellsburg. The event is held to increase awareness in youths of the outdoors, hunting and wildlife conservation. Participants must be between 10 and 16. Applications can be obtained at Keller’s Country Store, Dott Village Store and Buchanan Trail Sportsters located in the rear of M&M Electronics. Applications can also be obtained by e-mailing youthfieldday@hotmail.com. Preregistration is not required but preferred.

Baltimore Trip

Modern Woodmen of America Camp 7948 is sponsoring a bus trip to Baltimore August 9. The bus departs from the McConnellsburg Courthouse at 7 a.m. A stop will be made for breakfast at IHOP in Frederick around 8:30 a.m. Arrive at Inner Harbor in Baltimore at 10:30 a.m. and depart at 4:30 p.m. A stop will be made for dinner around 6:15 p.m. at Ryan’s Steak House in Hagerstown and arrive back in McConnellsburg around 8:30 p.m. Cost for transportaiton is $25 per person for adults, $20 for children under 12. Youth Camp Yard/Bake Sale

Fort Little Bible Church will hold a youth camp yard and bake sale July 15 and 16 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proceeds benefit the youth camp. Lunch stand will be available.

Ben K-5K

The sixth annual Ben K-5K will be held Saturday, July 30, beginning at 8 a.m. at Center United Methodist Church, Waterfall. Registration is free until July 8. Registrations received after that date will include a $5 fee. Applications are available at Newman’s Market, Fulton County News, Edgewood Pro Hardware and Keller's Country Store.

FR Soccer Registration

Forbes Road AYSO soccer registration will be held July 8, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Forbes Road Lions Club pavilion; and July 17, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at The Twist & Shake in Hustontown. Car Show

McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Association will sponsor a car, truck and motorcycle show on July 9. Show will be held at the old school parking lot in McConnellsburg. Registration will be from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Entry fee is $10 per vehicle. Preregistration is $8 by July 1. Raindate is July 10. Breakfast, dinner, drawings, vendors and auctions will be featured. Great Cove Baseball School

Great Cove Baseball School will be held at Lions Community Park sports complex in Mc- Connellsburg starting July 11 and ending July 14. The school begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Baseball instruction for players 8 years old through 12 years old. Instructors are coach Bob Thomas, Chambersburg High School; coach Loy Garber (retired), McConnellsburg High School; and coach Rod Bennett, Frederick Community College.
