Open Mic Night Held

Floyd Palmer Floyd Palmer A thundershower didn’t dampen the spirits of the folks attending open Mic Night on Saturday, June 11. A brilliant rainbow shone over the grounds, giving the impression of a hopeful time of fellowship.

The Silver Creek Band began the evening’s entertainment with an old-time favorite “Supper Time.” “The Country Cousins Etc.” filled the stage along with other entertainers. Catherine Beatty honored the fathers as she sang “Silver-Haired Daddy” and the musicians played “Golden Slippers,” as several couples shared the dance floor.

Every father received a pre-Father’s Day gift. Floyd Palmer, age 93, received a special award. Linda Smith won a painting from the collection of “Steal My Soule,” and Pat Hixon claimed the prize of a variety basket.

Saturday, July 9 is the next scheduled Mic Night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. New talent is always welcome, so come on out and share your gift!
