Summer Art Camp

Fulton County Parks and Recreation is offering a fun and exciting summer camp for kids in grades K-6. Explore animals and create a variety of projects that will be sure to bring out the child’s inner artist. Camp is set for June 28, 29 and 30 for grades K-6. The camps will be taught by Ms. Gillespie, a certified art education instructor, at Great Cove Golf Course. It will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cost $35/child. Youth football and cheerleading registration will be held at McConnellsburg Lions Park pavilion June 26, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. All practices are held in McConnellsburg at the Lions Park. More information may be obtained by calling 717-658-3563. Soccer Registration

Warfordsburg Area Youth Soccer will hold fall registration on Tuesday, July 12, at Warfordsburg Community Park from 6 to 8 p.m. No late registrations can be accepted. If you have any questions, please call 294-3001. Youth Field Day

Youth Field Day will be held on Saturday, September 17, beginning at 8 a.m., at Fulton County Pistol & Rifle Club, McConnellsburg. The event is held to increase awareness in youths of the outdoors, hunting and wildlife conservation. Participants must be between 10 and 16. Applications can be obtained at Keller’s Country Store, Dott Village Store and Buchanan Trail Sportsters located in the rear of M&M Electronics. Modern Woodmen of America Camp 7948 is sponsoring a bus trip to Baltimore August 9. The bus departs from the McConnellsburg Courthouse at 7 a.m. A stop will be made for breakfast at IHOP in Frederick around 8:30 a.m. Arrive at Inner Harbor in Baltimore at 10:30 a.m. and depart at 4:30 p.m. A stop will be made for dinner around 6:15 p.m. at Ryan’s Steak House in Hagerstown and arrive back in McConnellsburg around 8:30 p.m. Cost for transportaiton is $25 per person for adults, $20 for children under 12. The sixth annual Ben K-5K will be held Saturday, July 30, beginning at 8 a.m. at Center United Methodist Church, Waterfall. Registration is free until July 8. School retirees and senior center members are planning a trip to Penn’s Cave and Penn State Arboretum June 30. Admission to cave is $10.95 and lunch on your own in State College. Forbes Road AYSO soccer registration will be held June 24, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Forbes Road Little League baseball game; July 8, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Forbes Road Lions Club pavilion; and July 17, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at The Twist & Shake in Hustontown. Teen end-of-school picnic and sleepover party will be held at McConnellsburg Library Friday, June 24, from 6:30 p.m. to Saturday, June 25, at 8 a.m. All teens welcome. Must preregister with Jamie Brambley, director of the library. Those under 18 need to turn in a permission slip available on the library’s Web site at fultoncountylibrary.org or by stopping at the library. Free, but food and drink offerings appreciated. McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Association will sponsor a car, truck and motorcycle show on July 9. Show will be held at the old school parking lot in McConnellsburg. Registration will be from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Entry fee is $10 per vehicle. Preregistration is $8 by July 1. Raindate is July 10. Breakfast, dinner, drawings, vendors and auctions will be featured. Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage on Saturday, June 25, at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Admission is free and the facility is smoke-free and air-conditioned. Great Cove Baseball School

Great Cove Baseball School will be held at Lions Community Park sports complex in Mc- Connellsburg starting July 11 and ending July 14. The school begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Baseball instruction for players 8 years old through 12 years old. Instructors are coach Bob Thomas, Chambersburg High School; coach Loy Garber (retired), McConnellsburg High School; and coach Rod Bennett, Frederick Community College.
