New Pastors Begin Duties At Hustontown Church Of God

SPECIAL TO THE NEWS

On Sunday May 29, 2011, Hustontown Church of God located at 1301 North Clear Ridge Rd., one mile north on Route 475 in Hustontown, hosted a retirement celebration of more than 30 years of pastoral service for pastors Donald and Dee Rowe.

The Rowes were honored by the church, which hosted a banquet for them in the church fellowship hall. The Church of God state executive office also recognized the Rowes’ devoted service by presenting them with a letter of recognition and an honorarium for their great achievement.

The Rowes have retired as pastors but not as ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Hustontown Church of God will continue to pray for their well-being and strength in the Lord, but also for their continued fellowship and visitations as they have a love for this community and the people here. May God richly bless them for all their labor of love here.

Pastor Rowe’s love for the church was concerned over the void that would be left upon his retirement. He began early praying and seeking for a pastor to fill the void. In February of 2011 he invited Rev. David and Sharon Pine from Mercersburg to come and minister. He requested them to consider pastoring here at Hustontown. On June 5 they were presented to the church as candidates for the pastoral position and on Sunday, June 12, were voted in as the new pastors for Hustontown Church of God.

The Pines have ministered and pastored in Germany, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut, Indiana, Arizona, Texas and California. David and Sharon both graduated with their associate’s degrees from the Praise Chapel Christian Fellowship

International School of Theology in Huntington Park, Calif. Sharon has also graduated from the PA School of Nursing and is an LPN for the Tuscarora School District. David has a Bachelor of Science degree in business management and has graduated from the Army Management Staff College in Army Leadership. He is employed at Letterkenny Army Depot as the branch chief of production, planning and control for the Patriot Missile new build division. David and Sharon have been blessed with 28 years of marriage and three adult children and two grandchildren. Jazzy “Jasmine” lives with them and is Pappy’s shadow and about to turn five. Kayla Jo, is residing with Jesus until they get there to join her. The Pines are looking forward to being a part of this community and have a rich heritage at Hustontown.

Sharon’s grandmother, the late Rev. Sarah and James Clayton, started the Hustontown Church of God on February 6 1944. The Pines would like to invite all to come and celebrate life and worship at Hustontown Church of God.
