Larry D. Houck
Born September 25, 1941, in New Grenada, he was the son of the late Carl and Ruth (Black) Houck. He was married to A. Joan Hann on September 12, 1959, at Calvary Independent Baptist Church, Saltillo, by Rev. Richard Myers. Mrs. Houck survives at their home.
He is survived by three daughters: Melinda Stevens, Three Springs; Michele Senft, Saltillo; and Lori Rupert, Altoona; eight grandchildren: Alyssa, Mikaela, and Garrett Stevens; Ryan Senft, Megan Werner and Aaron, Zachary and Seth Rupert; one brother, Merrill Houck of Chambersburg, and one sister, Sherrill Snyder of Fayetteville, also survive.
One sister, Karen Stiver, is deceased.
He was a member of Immanuel Bible Church, Three Springs.
A 1959 graduate of Hustontown High School, he was also a member of the NRA (National Rifle Association).
He cherished time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors and was an expert builder and carpenter. Among his special joys were taking care of his Belgian horses, Bob and Pitt, and his dog, Rusty, his “little buddy”.
He retired from New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co. with more than 40 years service. He worked as a bridge superintendent.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at M. R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown. Pastor Steve Heaster officiated Interment was made in Bethel Cemetery, New Grenada.
