School retirees and senior center members are planning a trip to Penn’s Cave and Penn Stae Arboretum June 30. Admission to cave is $10.95 and lunch on your own in State College. A benefit ride and pig roast will be held Saturday, June 11, at Harper’s Memorial Park, 11880 Neelyton Road, Shade Gap. All proceeds benefit Justin and Stephanie Semple, sponsored by Angel Wings Org. More information may be obtained by calling Dodie at 814-386-0594.

Forbes Road AYSO soccer registration will be held June 24, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Forbes Road Little League baseball game; July 8, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Forbes Road Lions Club pavilion; and July 17, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at The Twist & Shake in Hustontown. Teen end-of-school picnic and sleepover party will be held at McConnellsburg Library Friday, June 24, from 6:30 p.m. to Saturday, June 25, at 8 a.m. All teens welcome. Must preregister with Jamie Brambley, director of the library. Those under 18 need to turn in a permission slip available on the library’s Web site at fultoncountylibrary.org or by stopping at the library. Free, but food and drink offerings appreciated. Enter through the library’s basement door.

Fulton County Library will hold a free family fun day on Saturday, June 11, at 11 a.m. in the community room. Super Reader Floyd Stokes will read and entertain. Door prizes and book signing.

McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Association will sponsor a car, truck and motorcycle show on July 9. Show will be held at the old school parking lot in McConnellsburg. Registration will be from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Entry fee is $10 per vehicle. Preregistration is $8 by July 1. Raindate is July 10. Breakfast, dinner, drawings, vendors and auctions will be featured. The annual Strawberry Festival, presented by the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism, will be held Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11, beginning at 10 a.m. daily. The festival is located at the Mc- Connellsburg Alumni Association building. The Mercersburg Community Band is performing on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m., inside the gym. Admission is free. Bring own chairs. These activities are scheduled for Saturday: an amateur talent contest beginning at noon, a baby/toddler contest and a strawberry capping contest. Fulton County Community Christian School will host the 10th annual Forrest R. Mellott Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Great Cove Golf Course, McConnellsburg. This tournament will be a four-person scramble with a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. Top prize for the tournament is $1,000. Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage on Saturday, June 25, at 6 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Admission is free and the facility is smoke-free and air-conditioned.

Mic Night will be held at Warfordsburg Senior Center, 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg, June 11, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Food and drink will be available. Admission is $1. More information may be obtained by calling 717-294-6020.

Great Cove Baseball School will be held at Lions Community Park sports complex in Mc- Connellsburg starting July 11 and ending July 14. The school begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Baseball instruction for players 8 years old through 12 years old. Instructors are coach Bob Thomas, Chambersburg High School; coach Loy Garber (retired), McConnellsburg High School; and coach Rod Bennett, Frederick Community College. Festivals Fairview United Methodist Church will hold ice cream festivals this year on July 16 and September 10. The church is located four miles north of Hustontown on North Hess Road. Homemade ice cream, soups, sandwiches, french fries and desserts will be sold. The festivals will begin at 4 p.m.
