Justin Strait recently received a degree in distribution management from Hagerstown Community College.

Lloyd and Hannelore Hann and Dan Headley recently visited with Hannelore’s daughter, Carmen, and family of Illinois. They attended Carmen’s son Bronson’s graduation and commissioning ceremony at the University of Missouri. He is a second lieutenant in the army.

Nancy Wible Hewett of McConnellsburg visited with Kay McGarvey last Thursday and decorated her family graves in area cemeteries.

Ronnie and Robin Barnhart observed their 21st wedding anniversary on May 26.

John Truax is home after spending a few days in Fulton County Medical Center with an infected foot from a rusty staple.

Kathleen O’Connor attended her granddaughter Jennifer’s high school graduation in Hereford, Md., on Friday.

Public Opinion female athlete of the week was senior

Amy Bard of Southern Fulton for track and field. She also enjoys horseback riding. Amy is the daughter of Pat Bard and Alice Doherty.

The McConnellsburg Senior Citizens enjoyed a shopping day last Wednesday in Cumberland, Md., and a meal at the Road Kill Cafe.

The McConnellsburg K-4 students held graduation on Tuesday night.

Lydia Mannion, granddaughter of Louise Long of Myers Ave., recently visited with her aunt, Deb, and son Adam of Anchorage, Alaska, and did some sightseeing.

A retirement party was held for Greg Hay on Sunday at the American Legion hall. Greg was with Central Fulton School District for 34 years. He will be greatly missed.

Sunday, May 22, Ruth Reeder, Teresa Deshong, Tasha and Jackson Skiles, Ida Strait, Stacey Clevenger and Barb Supanick of Boswell enjoyed a very nice patio bridal shower for Courtney Metz. The shower was given by her sister, Andrea, and mother Lisa Kemp at their home in Shippensburg. Saturday, May 28, Shari Washabugh and her mother, Ida Strait, enjoyed a bridal supper for out- of- town guests, mostly from North Carolina. Courtney’s monther had a catered meal, and Lisa and Wade Kemp were the host and hostess at their beautiful mountain home in Shippensburg. Rhoda Sowers and sister Bonnie of Pittsburgh, Ida Strait, Ruth Reeder, Tina Lindsey of Fayetteville and her daughter Jessica, of Leesburg, Va., and lots of members of the Metz family attended the outside wedding Sunday, May 29, at Whispering Pines in Carlisle.
