RELIGION

Bible School will be held at Center Methodist
Church June 13-17, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The them is
“Power Lab.” All are welcome to attend. The church is located off Rt. 655 onto Dublin Mills Road, near Waterfall. More

Calvary Independent Baptist Church will
feature evangelist Dr. Ron Comfort on June 5. The church is

Memorial Service

Reformed Church of Fannettsburg will
hold annual worship services June 12 at 2:30 p.m. Special
speaker is Rev. Larry Locke and special music by The Gospel
Jammers and the old-time pump organist will be Lori
McAllen. All are welcome.



RECREATION

Ride-to-Stay-Dry motorcycle poker run
will be held Sunday, June 5, at Broad Top Community Center, 21125 Broad Street, Broad Top. This is a 100-mile ride
through central PA. All proceeds benefit the Broad Top Community Center roof fund. More information may be obtained

A benefit ride and pig roast will
be held Saturday, June 11, at Harper’s Memorial Park, 11880
Neelyton Road, Shade Gap. All proceeds benefit Justin and
Stephanie Semple, sponsored by Angel Wings Org. More information may be obtained by calling Dodie at 814-386-0594.


Great Cove Golf Course pool will
open Thursday, June 2, at the golf course.

McConnellsburg Alumni & Friends Association
will sponsor a car, truck and motorcycle show on July 9. Show
will be held at the old school parking lot in McConnellsburg.
Registration will be from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Entry fee is $10
per vehicle. Preregistration is $8 by July 1. Raindate is July
10. Breakfast, dinner, drawings, vendors and auctions will be

3738. All profits go for the upkeep of the old school.






The annual Strawberry Festival, presented by the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce &
Tourism, will be held Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11, beginning at 10 a.m. daily. The festival is located at the Mc-
Connellsburg Alumni Association building. The Mercersburg
Community Band is performing on Friday evening at 7:30
p.m., inside the gym. Admission is free. Bring own chairs.
These activities are scheduled for Saturday: an amateur talent contest beginning at noon, a baby/toddler contest and a
strawberry capping contest. Food vendors and craft booths

Fulton County Community Christian
School will host the 10th annual Forrest R. Mellott Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Great
Cove Golf Course, McConnellsburg. This tournament will be
a four-person scramble with a shotgun start beginning at 8
a.m. Top prize for the tournament is $1,000. For information,

FOOD & DINING

Festivals Fairview United Methodist Church will hold ice
cream festivals this year on July 16 and September 10. The
church is located four miles north of Hustontown on North
Hess Road. Homemade ice cream, soups, sandwiches, french
fries and desserts will be sold. The festivals will begin at 4 p.m.



Festival Siloam United Methodist Church will hold a festival June 18 at 4 p.m. Serving homemade ice cream, soup,
sandwiches, pie, etc. Music by Country Christians. The church
is located on Rt. 655, south of Harrisonville. All are welcome.

An ice cream festival will be held at
Center United Methodist Community Building, Saturday,
June 4, at 4 p.m. Ham or turkey dinners with fixings and drink
will be served. Also other foods available, including sandwiches, soup, cake, pie, soda and ice cream.


Festival An ice cream festival will be held June 18, beginning at 4 p.m., at Knobsville United Methodist Church, located on Waterfall Road, McConnellsburg. Menu will include
homemade ice cream, soups, pies and cakes and also hot dogs,
steamers, french fries, coffee, soda and water. There will be
music for entertainment. All are welcome to attend.


A chicken barbecue will be held at Needmore Firehall Sunday, June 12, at 11 a.m. Served will be half
a chicken, baked beans, applesauce, cake and roll.

A yard sale and lunch stand will be
held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 220 N. Third St., Mc-
Connellsburg, June 16 and 17, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Festival A festival will be held June 18, starting at 4 p.m.
Paul’s Lutheran Church, Big Cove Tannery. Menu includes homemade ice cream, soups, pies and cakes. We will
be serving barbecue, hamburgers and hot dogs. Entertainment provided by the Country Classics band from 5 p.m. to
8 p.m. The church is located five miles south of McConnellsburg


on Route 522.

St. Paul Lutheran Church at 220 North Third
Street, McConnellsburg, will serve a free meal the second
Tuesday of each month from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Come and
enjoy good food and fellowship.

Attention farmers: All are cordially invited to attend an informative field day to learn more about
the benefits of rotational grazing, direct marketing, business
planning and other ag-related topics to maximize the bottom
line. The field day will be held on Friday, June 17, from 10 a.m.
to 2:30 p.m., at Lance and Carri Younker’s dairy farm, 829 Barnetts Run Road, Warfordsburg. Sponsored by the Fulton
County Conservation District, the USDA Natural Resources
Conservation Service and the Fulton County Penn State Cooperative Extension. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP by

Applications for the 2011 Fulton
County Fair Queen are available by calling 485-5137 and asking for Vickie or Susie. Applicants must be 16 years old, but
not over 20 years old, as of June 1, 2011.

FOVA will be voting on a board of director at the next scheduled meeting July 6. All active VFW
members should plan to attend.

Fulton County Hunter Trapper Education course will be held Thursday, June 23, from 6:30
p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Saturday, June 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club. Bring a bag lunch for
Saturday. This is the second of three traditional courses for
Fulton County. Preregistration is required at PGC Web site

Submit your best Fulton County scenic photograph to the Fulton County Historical Society for possible inclusion in a 2012 calendar. Colorful photos for
all seasons are needed. If selected, the photo will include the

can be mailed to the Historical Society at Box 115, Mc-

REUNIONS

Forbes Road High School Class of
1976 will hold its 35th class reunion June 18, at Ryan’s Grill
Buffet and Bakery, 1635 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, at
6 p.m. Anyone who has not sent back the information or

Reunion The descendants of Scott and Beatrice Sipes will
family reunion on Saturday, June 4, at Lions Community Park pavilion at 10 a.m. Meat, place settings and drinks

Hustontown High School
Class of 1947 will hold a reunion to celebrate 64 years since
graduation on Tuesday, June 14, at 1 p.m., at Hustontown
Firehall. Please plan to attend.


McConnellsburg Class of 1971 would like
to plan a 40th class reunion for the fall of 2011. Anyone who

The descendants of Claude B. Souders
will hold their annual reunion on Sunday, June 12, at Cito United Methodist Fellowship Hall, beginning at 1 p.m.

MEETINGS

Knobsville Singles will meet Monday,
June 13, at 9 a.m., at K’s Place.

Fulton County Medical Center
Auxiliary will meet Monday, June 6, at 10 a.m., in the activities room of the center. The auxiliary appreciation luncheon
will be held in the resident dining room at noon following the
meeting. Auxiliary members should call 717-485-6116 if they
have not already confirmed plans to attend the luncheon.



Fulton Museum volunteers will meet Friday, June 3, at 10 a.m. in the Fulton House.
This is a planning and scheduling session and anyone with
an intertest in preservation, inventorying or being a docent
is urged to attend.


Wells Tannery
Park homecoming committee is having a meeting to plan the
homecoming on Monday, June 6, at 7 p.m., at the park. People are needed to help plan food, the parade and other events.
Everyone welcome.


The next meeting of the Friends
of Better Days Animal League, Fulton County, will be held
Monday, June 6, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. in the St. Stephen Catholic
Church basement. Everyone interested in providing support
and care to improve the lives of abandoned, abused and neglected animals in Fulton County are welcome to attend.



HEALTH

Bloodmobile A blood drive will be held Tuesday, June 14,
p.m., at McConnellsburg United Presbyterian Church, 116 Second Street, McConnellsburg.

BINGO

A benefit bingo will be held for Trinity Lynn
Nicole Swope at McConnellsburg Fire Co., Sunday, June 12,
at 2 p.m. Doors open at 1 p.m. Twenty regular games and four
specials. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance by
calling Amanda Shives at 717-504-3372. Tickets purchased in
advance get a free pack of specials. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. There will be food (a taco bar and drinks)
and door prizes. Featuring retired Longaberger baskets. All
baskets are filled and have a protector and/or cloth liner. Any
funds above the family’s expenses for Trinity’s headstone
and funeral will be donated to the MVFC.
