The slate of officers includes president: Kristin Hawbaker: vice president - Ryan Fisher; secretary - Ashley Penwell; treasurer - Courtney Deshong; reporter - Michala Christy; and sentinel/ student reporter - Tyler Long.

“I know it’s a lot of hard work to be an FFA officer, especially president,” explained new president, Kristin Hawbaker, “but we are going to have a real good officer team this coming year, and I know that we’ll all pitch in to get the job done.”

Each officer candidate completed a written application and was interviewed by a committee consisting of senior FFA members and interested faculty.

The chapter is wrapping up a busy year while already making plans for the next. They held a successful bedding plant sale of flowers and vegetables grown in the school greenhouse, and are finishing up growing tomatoes and peppers for the local food bank.

They will also be holding a pool party for members the beginning of June. In addition, nine members will be competing in FFA activities week June 14-16 at Penn State, including senior Emily Wenschhof, who will sing a solo in the talent competition. Senior Conrad Glazier will also be recognized as FFA’s south central region finalist in dairy production proficiencies.

Next year’s planning includes a trip to the National FFA Convention, dairy and livestock judging competitions, as well as becoming more involved in Pennsylvania Farm Show competitions.
