Athlete Wins MVP Title

Mason Bard, an eighthgrade member of the Southern Fulton Junior High track team, has won the title of Most Valuable Athlete at the Johnsonburg Invitational held on April 30.

Mason finished with 32 points, earning first in the 200M with a time of 24.24. He also gained a personal best and second place in the 400M with 58.29. He finished second in the long jump and third in the 100M. Just two days prior, Mason traveled to Mars, Pa., to participate in the Mars Invitational where he won a medal for second place in the long jump with a jump of 17’10.” Because of this recognition and qualifying times, Mason has received an invitation to compete in the 13-to-14- year-old division of the National Junior Olympics to be held in late June. Mason is the son of Robert and Julie Bard of Warfordsburg.
