Plane Crash Kills Pilot
BENEZETT, Pa. (AP) – Authorities in central Pennsylvania have released the name of a 60-year-old Connecticut man killed in the crash of a small plane in Elk County.
Elk County Coroner Louis Radkowski on Saturday identified the victim as 60- year-old Aaron Olmsted of South Windsor, Conn.
Officials say he was flying the single-engine plane that went down in a wooded area of Benezette Township just before 6 p.m. Friday.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating. The township is about 80 miles north of Altoona.
About an hour earlier, officials say a plane trying to land on a driveway in Tidioute in neighboring Warren County clipped a tree, flipped over and hit an embankment.
Officials said the man and woman inside were able to free themselves and are being treated at UPMC Hamot.
