Charles W. West
Charles William “Jim” West, 65, Shade Gap, Pa., formerly of Coolspring, Pa., and Brier Hill, Pa., died Friday, May 13, 2011, at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey.
He was born August 29, 1945, in Upper Middletown, Pa., the son of the late Donald and Mary (Nixon) West. He was married to Joyce Karen Yowler on August 30, 1969.
He worked for the Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. in Uniontown, Pa., for 25 years as a truck driver before moving to Shade Gap. He later worked for the Creamer Oil Co. in Chambersburg and S&N Communications in Shippensburg. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and a huge Steelers fan. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Karen West of Shade Gap; three sons: Jeffrey (husband of Nicole) West of Shade Gap; Michael (husband of Trudy) West of Saltillo; and Kevin (husband of Haley) West of Mount Union, and three grandchidren: (Reegan, Elijah and Olivia); three brothers: Donald West of Fredericktown; Robert Fowler of Elco; and Samuel Blazovich of Brownsville, and one stepsister, Donna Marks of Allen Park, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mary West; his stepfather, Peter Blazovich; and one stepbrother, Joseph Harden in 2005.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in McConnellsburg.
