Strawberry Festival Three Weeks Away

The 21st annual Strawberry Festival is fast approaching on June 10 and June 11. The Fulton County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism invites you to attend and enjoy all the planned activities. As always, strawberry treats are featured on both days.

Friday night presents The Mercersburg Community Band in concert, beginning at 7:30 p.m., indoors on stage at the McConnellsburg Alumni and Friends Building located at the corner of South Third and East Maple streets. The popular local amateur talent show has been moved to Saturday beginning at noon. Anyone wishing to enter the talent show should register by calling the chamber office at 485-4064. Contestants will be competing for top prizes of $100, $75, $50 and $25. This special event is sponsored by Tower Bank.

The festival is adding more things to do. There is a contest for babies and toddlers running both days of the festival. A coloring contest for kindergarten and first-grade students from all county schools is now under way, winners to be announced during the festival. The second annual strawberry recipe contest is now accepting applications. Businesses countywide are encouraged to enter a strawberry window decorating contest. Finally a strawberry capping event featuring eight ladies preparing strawberries in a timed event is planned for Saturday.

If you are interested in setting up a space as a vendor, or becoming a participant in any of the events and need information, call the chamber office at 485-4064.
