Kermit K. Rice
Kermit K. Rice, 78, Imler, died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Pennknoll Village.
He was born May 24, 1932, on Shaffer Mountain, to the late George E. and Margaret A. (Callihan) Rice.
On August 8, 1953, he married Yvonne M. Baughman, who died August 7, 2008.
He is survived by a son, Kermit K. Rice Jr. and wife Cindy, Breezewood; a daughter, Vicky J. Clark, and husband Kevin, Imler; four beautiful granddaughters: Tina Bailey, Claysburg; Megan M. Rice, Saxton; Tisha J. Clark, Breezewood; and Angela R. Rice, Crystal Springs; eight great-grandchildren: Tyler Fink and Hannah Ilgenfritz, Claysburg; Josie and Jason Clark, Breezewood; Reanna Rice, Crystal Springs; Kyle and Josh Frankenberry, Breezewood; and Noah Baker, Centerville; and a great-greatgrandson, Dayton Fink; a brother, Auther Rice, Waldorf, Md.; and a sister, Elizabeth Rock, Martinsburg.
He was preceded in death by brothers Andy Rice and Bruce Rice and a sister, Sara Rice.
He was a member of United Methodist Church of Weyant. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from General Refineries in 1986. He enjoyed hunting, looking for mushrooms, tinkering around the garage, but most of all he loved watching the children play sports where he was one of their biggest fans.
He was a member of American Legion Post 113, VFW in Bedford and Pleasantville and Bedford Moose lodges.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 3, at 11 a.m. Pastor Gary Blankley officiated. Burial was made at Bedford County Memorial Park with full military rites by Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
