Pa. Kayaker Drowns In Swollen Creek
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. ( AP) – A Pennsylvania kayaker drowned after going over a dam and getting caught in the current caused by high water.
Columbia County Deputy Coroner Linda Kessler says 37-year-old Robert Parker, of Orangeville, died after going over the dam on Fishing Creek in Montour Township.
Kessler says another kayaker tried to reach Parker but was also trapped by the swift current. Rescuers were able to pull him to safety.
The Press Enterprise of Bloomsburg reports a U.S. Geological Survey river gauge indicated twice as much water as usual was running through that stretch of the creek.
