The choirs at the “Sounds of the Season” concert in December The choirs at the “Sounds of the Season” concert in December The middle school and high school choirs of Mc- Connellsburg announce their annual spring chorus concert at the MHS auditorium on Tuesday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature both choirs plus a number of extra tid-bits to enjoy. Special features will include the choral Ensemble, junior and senior high county chorus and two senior solos (Emily Wenschhof and Gabrielle Mc- Garvey). The middle school chorus will present two classical sounding pieces “Alleluia Canon” and “Heart of the Fugue,” two gospel tunes “Send Down the Rain” and “Shout Amen,” a girls piece, “ Make Your Dreams Come True” a guys piece, “Calendar Girl” featuring Josh Fedin, Cody Parson and Andrew singing solos; the pop tune “Somewhere Out There;” and an energetic piece entitled “Rhythm of Life” (a song chosen by the choir). The senior chorus will present a madrigal-style piece and a motet, “The Sound of the Pipe and Drum” (sung in both French and English (and a capella)) and “Cantate Domino” (sung in Latin). Three sacred pieces follow, “Little Wheel A-Turnin,’” “God Unseen Yet Ever Near,” and “Festival Sanctus” (sung in Latin). The art song “The Arrow and the Song” and the bluesy “Go ‘Way From My Window” continue the program. The pop tune “Somewhere Down the Road” by Barry Manilow and a medley form “Beauty and the Beast” conclude the program. The concert is free, although donations are gladly accepted at the door.
