Burnt Cabins Bible Church will hold a special weekend planned for May 21 and 22. The speakers are Dr. George and Barbara Rundle of Chambersburg. On Saturday at 10:30 a.m., Barbara Rundle will be speaking at al ladies seminar on the topic: “Becoming A Woman of Unflappable Faith.’ There will be two sessions, with a light luncheon at noon. On Sunday, Dr. Georg Rundle will be speaking on the home with the messages “The Keys to Restoring Harmony In the Home” and “Rekindling Heavenly Communication In The Home.” There will be a potluck fellowship meal between the services. A celebration of the 100th anniversary of Cito United Methodist Church will be held Sunday, May 22, at 9:30 a.m. Guest speaker will be Bishop Jane Allen Middleton. There will also be a variety of special music. The old church will be open with pictures and memorabilia on display. Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Cemetery Association will hold its annual memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at historic Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church. Lay speaker Jeff Ward of Hancock Presbyterian Church will deliver the afternoon message, with special music performed by Russ and Donna Miller of the Hancock United Methodist Church. The memorial service offering is used to assist the cemetery association with the continued upkeep of Tonolowayís historic cemetery. The Damascus Cemetery Association will celebrate its 75th Memorial Day services on May 29, 2011, at 2 p.m. Sen. John H. Eichelberger will be the speaker, and the Sanders sisters of Berkeley Springs will provide special music. A written history of the cemetery association will be given to attendees. Quilt Club Meeting
Fulton County Quilt Club will meet Saturday, May 21, at 10 a.m., in the community room of Fulton County Library. Following a brief business meeting two classes will be held: machine applique and trapunto. Items needed for the machine applique class are scraps of fabric, an 8-inch square of white or off-white background fabric, “Steama Seam 1,” sewing machine, iron and thread to match the fabric scraps. For the trapunto class an 8-inch square of muslim or light fabric, marking pen or pencill, quilting thread, quilting needle, thimble and an embroidery hoop will be needed. Aluminum Cans Accepted
In support of May being Mental Health Month, aluminum cans are being accepted at Dibert’s Recycling along Route 522 north of McConnellsburg or at the Mental Health Association Office in McConnellsburg on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All proceeds raised from the can collection will go to a mental health organization in this area.
