Family Rescued After Creek Sweeps Them Away

BUSHKILL, Pa. (AP) – Emergency crews had to rescue a family of three after they were swept away by the rushing waters of a northeastern Pennsylvania creek while swimming.

Bushkill Fire Chief Alex DiPaolo says a couple and their preteen son were swimming in Saw Creek behind their home when the rushing waters pushed them downstream Tuesday evening.

DiPaolo says the man had been able to pull himself from the water but had a head injury. His son and wife were clinging to a rock in mid-stream when rescuers arrived.

The Stroudsburg Pocono Record reports rescuers from National Park Service and two fire companies had to repel down steep terrain to reach the stranded family.
