Relay For Life Event Set For May 20-21
The Fulton County Relay for Life Committee met at the MHS high school track last Monday to finalize plans for the American Cancer Society’s Fulton County fundraising event slated for May 20-21. Eight teams have signed up to date to raise the county goal of $28,500. Members are excited about the possibilities this year back at the track and have themed the campaign “Hit it out of the Park.”
The Relay for Life event will commence on May 20 at 4 p.m., with hourly events throughout the evening and following day. The first lap will be the “survivor lap,” which will kick off at 5 p.m., followed by the survivor dinner sponsored by Fulton County Medical Center Angels. If you are a cancer survivor, you are encouraged to attend the dinner. RSVP to Carol Singel at 717-485- 9142. The angels will be serving an all-American baseball meal: hotdogs, hamburgers and apple pie. Weather permitting, there may be a baseball game under the lights to celebrate the theme of the relay.
Following the survivor dinner, a silent auction will be held under the tent until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. If you would like to donate a silent auction item, please contact Michele Seburn at 814-617-0445
Lighting up the night sky, the annual luminaria service will begin at 9:00 p.m. with the reading of names by the MHS National Honor Society. Please come out for the ceremony; there are bleachers available or you can bring a lawn chair or blanket. Sitting on the bank provides a great view of the whole ceremony. You may purchase a luminaria from any team member to honor or in memory of a loved one. Luminarias will be sold up until 8 p.m. at the track. There will be a shuttle from the high school parking lot to the track, and there is ramp access to the track as well.
