Racing Roundup

By Brad Vores

Coleby Frye made history Friday night at Bedford Speedway.

The Dover driver became the first driver in the 75-year history of the track to win feature events in multiple divisions as Frye won opening night features in the Super Late Models and Limited Late Models.

In the Super Late Model 25-lap feature, he started third on the grid and took control early after a battle with DJ Myers. Frye then drove to the win, his third career at the track, over Myers, Jeff Miller, Gene Knaub and Jack Pencil, with Dylan Yoder, Nick Dickson, Greg Fetters, Jerry Bard and Matt Parks completing the top- 10 finishers.

Frye started fifth in the Limited Late Model feature and dominated the event in his win over DJ Troutman, Tim Smith Jr., Rick Singleton and Grant Adams.

Brian Leppo won his first 25-lap 410 Sprint car feature Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway after inheriting the lead with two laps to go when leader Greg Hodnett’s car developed a flat tire. Leppo took the win over Steve Buckwalter, Danny Dietrich, Lance Dewease and Chad Layton.

TJ Stutts won the 358 Sprint car feature at Williams Grove over Pat Cannon, Jay Galloway, Logan Schuchart and Chad Trout.

Steve Owings came out on top of Friday night’s season opener for 358 Sprints Friday night at Trail-Way Speedway. Owings led all 25 laps of the race in the win over Cris Eash, Jeff Rohrbaugh, Mike Duncan, Jr. and Joe Trone Jr.

Glenn Elliott defeated a nine- car 358-Late Model field, taking the win over Steve Billet, Mike Walls, Bobby Beard and Bernie Beard.

Mother Nature switched days this weekend, giving Friday night a break but wreaking havoc across the board for Saturday night racing events. Events at Lincoln, Port Royal, Selinsgrove, Hagerstown, Trail- Way, Susquehanna and Path Valley speedways as well as URC Sprint action at Delaware International was all rained out.

That’s it for another week, and while we seem to be having warmer temperatures, now we need some dry weekends as racing is in full swing with some big events coming up. E-mail reaches me at Bvores@comcast.net.
