Larry L. Johnson

Wells Tannery, 73

Larry Levi Johnson, 73, Wells Tannery, died at 10:36 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2011.

Born October 3, 1937, in Wells Tannery, he was the son of the late Cloyd and Faye (Dickinson) Johnson. He was married to Apolonia Enzingmueller on August 14, 1981. She survives of Wells Tannery.

He is survived by six children: Dorean Johnson, Robertsdale; Larry Johnson Jr. and wife Barb, Baltimore, Md.; Allen Johnson and wife Angie, Belair, Md.; Susan Cornell and husband Randy, Charlotte, N.C.; Raymond Johnson, Wells Tannery; and Sabine Debski and husband Matt, Everett; one stepson, Kurt Laemmermann, also survives of Wells Tannery; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers: Carol Layton and husband Robert, Milton, Pa.; Peggy Schreiber and husband Greg, Clear-ville; Andy Johnson and wife Vicky, Mc- Connellsburg; Randy Johnson and wife Laurie, Martinsburg, Pa.; Deb Brown, Everett; and Barb Diehl and husband Rod, Bedford.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Melvin Johnson and Jim Johnson.

He was a member of Clear Ridge United Methodist Church, Hustontown.

A U.S. Army veteran of 26 years, he retired as a master sergeant in 1982. He served in the Vietnam War where he received the Bronze Star and numerous other medals.

He later worked at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, as a supervisor.

He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in McConnellsburg and was also a member of the Breezewood VFW where he participated with the VFW Honor Guard.

He was proud of his country. He enjoyed the outdoors, wildlife, polkas and country music. He loved his family and siblings and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by many.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Clear Ridge United Methodist Church, Hustontown. Pastor Betty Secrest officiated. Interment was in Wells Valley Presbyterian Cemetery, Wells Tannery.

M. R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, was in charge of arrangements.
