Hartman Travels To Capitol Hill
Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., hosted 10th- grader Annetta Hartman on Capitol Hill recently as part of the “Congressional Take Our Daughters to Work Day.” Annetta is a member of Girl Scout Troop 4440 in Berkeley Springs and attends the Pennsylvania Virtual Charter School.
“With a daughter and granddaughter of my own, I feel it’s especially important to set a good, strong example for young women. It was a pleasure to show Annetta the ropes of Congress; she is a smart, poised young woman and surely has a bright future ahead of her,” stated Capito, one of three women members to sponsor the day-long event. “Young girls should feel empowered to choose any career path they wish, including public service. Women only hold a small percentage of seats in Congress and state legislatures, but seeing the confident young women on the Hill today has me convinced that this is sure to change.”
Annetta shadowed Capito and attended meetings to learn more about the dayto day life of a member of Congress. She resides in Needmore with her parents Julia Delpino and Mike Hartman.
