DA’s Secretary Pleads Guilty To Perjury Counts
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) – A secretary in a suburban Philadelphia district attorney’s office has pleaded guilty to lying to a grand jury about information related to a robbery case involving a family member.
The Norristown Times Herald reports 59-year-old Vera Ellen Carroll pleaded guilty to a pair of felony perjury charges Tuesday in Montgomery County Court. She could face seven years in prison or more when she’s sentenced later this year.
Authorities say Carroll lied to a grand jury about using her position as a secretary in the Delaware County District Attorney’s office to obtain confidential police reports and other documents related to a robbery investigation involving her grandson.
Prosecutors say Carroll discussed issues including possible witnesses with Jamir Carroll during jailhouse phone calls.
