Man Arrested For Drug Delivery
A former McConnellsburg resident was arraigned last Tuesday evening on drug-related charges for an alleged transaction that occurred last October in the parking area behind the driver’s license center in McConnellsburg.
John William Decyk II, currently of 203 South Park Avenue, Mercersburg, was brought before Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott on April 5 on one count each of delivery and possession of a controlled substance. Decyk was remanded to the Franklin County Prison in lieu of $25,000 straight bail.
The charges against Decyk, 25, stem from an alleged controlled buy of marijuana by an undercover Pennsylvania State Police officer on October 1, 2010.
According to charging documents, the officer met with an individual at Johnnie’s Motel in Mc- Connellsburg regarding the purchase of either crack cocaine or marijuana. The individual told the officer his dealer would be getting to town soon.
Within 20 minutes, the officer responded to a call to meet behind Johnnie’s Motel and was then asked to pull in the parking lot located behind the PennDOT license center, said the trooper in the affidavit of probable cause. The trooper was introduced to Decyk, who reportedly showed him a $20 bag of marijuana that was referred to as being “good stuff.”
“Decyk stated that he had to get it on East Maple Street and that it would only take a minute. I stated I did not want to front the money because I did not trust him. He then handed me his wallet to keep for insurance,” the trooper stated. Upon Decyk’s return, the trooper was given four plastic baggies containing suspected marijuana.
The baggies containing the suspected marijuana were sent to the Pennsylvania State Police crime lab in Harrisburg for further analysis. Testing revealed the substance was marijuana and weighed 6.8 grams.
Decyk’s preliminary hearing was tentatively scheduled for Monday, April 11.
