Lindsay Berkstresser of Waterfall has been awarded the Dean’s Merit Scholarship to attend the Penn State University Dickinson School of Law. The law school is nationally recognized for its Alternative Dispute Resolution and Advocacy Program.
A 2010 graduate of Shippensburg University’s John L. Grove College of Business and the college’s Honors Program, Berkstresser graduated summa cum laude, earning a 4.0 GPA every semester. During her undergraduate career, she was appointed to serve as the student member on the advisory board and admissions committee. She also served as public relations chair and secretary for Phi Beta Lambda and co- chaired a Students in Free Enterprise project, instructing lower socioeconomic inner-city middle school students in economics. Berkstresser was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, a national busines honor society that requires student members rank in the top 10 percent of their baccalaureate program.
While at Shippensburg, she mentored incoming honors students, wrote for the Honors Chronicle and partnered with the Honors Student Organization to compete in fundraising relay races for the victims of the Haitian earthquake and the AIDS Community of South- Central Pennsylvania. In recognition of her commitment to service, she was awarded a full-tuition scholarship.
During her undergraduate career, Lindsay volunteered with congressional campaigns, worked parttime as a tutor of economics and as a recruiting interm with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network.
She will join the fall 2011 class entering Penn State Dickinson School of Law at the University Park campus. She is the daughter of Dwayne and Betsy Northcraft.
