The weekend weather wasn’t too bad. It was a little cool, but nice. Some folks are starting gardens.

Our sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of Steve Thomas, who passed away last week. He had been in an auto accident recently.

Knobsville United Methodist Church folks are having a rummage sale and a bake sale on Saturday, April 30, at 8 a.m. This is a good place to donate your unwanted clothing or give baked goods.

Belated happy birthday to Precious Mae Mann on Sunday, April 10. Also happy birthday this week to Jackie Berkstresser, April 10, at Slippery Rock.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage on Saturday, April 26, at 6 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Come out, have supper and then enjoy the evening entertainment free. Celebrate the coming of spring or just come and enjoy talent of others or share your talent. We hope to see you there. Your support is appreciated. The fire company is always there for us.

Mark your calendars for the annual Mother’s Day buffet meal at Hustontown Fire Co. on Sunday, May 8, at 11 a.m. A large variety of foods featuring eight meats, variety of vegetables, salads, desserts and beverages. Treat that special person to a delicious buffet meal. More information later.

Circle Friday, May 13 on your calendars for a food auction at the Hustontown Fire Co. at 5:30 p.m. Kitchens opens at 4:30 p.m. More information later.

Gil Deshong just had open heart surgery and we are glad to hear he is doing real well. We send wishes for a full recovery.

Household Hint: French dressing – 1 onion chopped fine, 1 1/2 cups sugar, 1 cup oil, 2 teaspoons paprika, 2 teaspoons salt or less, 1/2 cup vinegar, 1/ 4 cup ketchup. Blend all together in blender.
