John D. Curfman
John Dayton Curfman Sr., 87, Three Springs, Pa., died at 2:45 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Aprontree Personal Care Home, Spring Run, Pa.
Born December 23, 1923, in Saltillo, he was the son of the late Raymond and Lulu (Kerlin) Curfman. He was married to Bertha Grissinger. She preceded him in death on November 16, 1955.
He is survived by two sons and six daughters: Roger Curfman, Three Springs; Carol Ramsey, Hustontown; Betty Romig, Waterfall; Gloria Shafer, Wells Tannery; Sonjia Smith, Maddensville; Donna Crum, St. Thomas; John Curfman Jr., Three Springs; and Cathy Shoop, Three Springs.
Surviving are 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers: Ruth Lane, Tyrone; Marian Rulka, Elizabethtown; Mary Glunt, East Waterford; Carl Curfman, Morganton, N.C.; and George Curfman, Three Springs.
One brother, Lovell, and a sister, Margaret, are deceased; also, two brothers and one sister died in infancy.
He was of the Protestant Faith.
An avid motorcyclist, he was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
He engaged in farming until 1981. He then worked as an equipment operator for PennDOT until retiring in 1991.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. Rev. Dr. Kenneth Grundon officiated. Interment was made in Three Springs Cemetery.
