Figures released last week by the county commissioners’ office show that the Democratic Party is heading toward the May primaries with a lead of almost 300 over the Republicans. At the end of the last registration period, 2,407 Democrats were registered in the county, as compared to 2,130 Republicans.

An emergency ambulance attendants course was held from February 1 to March 29 at the McConnellsburg Firehall. Six Hustontown firemen were among the class of approximately 80 who successfully completed the course. They were Clark Brant, Marvin DeShong, Phillip Fix, Henry Knepper, Ralph Mellott and Clair Miller.

Marriage licenses: Arthur Deleans Jr. of East Brady and Rhonda Peresie of Rural Valley, Pa.; John Fix of Mc- Connellsburg and Darlene Faye Seville of McConnellsburg.

George Sprowl of Wells Tannery has been appointed dog law enforcement officer for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture in the Fulton County and southern Huntingdon County area.

Navy Petty Officer First Class Carter P. Bard, husband of the former Miss Marie H. Peck of McConnellsburg, was recently awarded the Good Conduct Medal at the Naval Security Group Activity, Keflavik, Iceland.

Dates for the annual Tuscarora Hillclimb have been set for June 19-20.

Births at the Medical Center: a son to Mr. and Mrs. Charles McFadden Jr., McConnellsburg, on April 5.

Mr. and Mrs. Firemen McClain of Waterfall will hold open house in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary on April 18.
