Spring arrived in central Pennsylvania last weekend, but you sure wouldn’t know it by the temperatures!
Those cold temperatures forced many area speedway’s to cancel this past weekend’s racing events, but several tracks pressed on despite the temperatures.
Lincoln Speedway, a track that will make an attempt to get in a race no matter what the weather conditions, was the lone 410 Sprint car track in action over the weekend and despite the frigid cold on Saturday, a good crowd and decent car counts supported the track’s decision.
Brent Marks was glad Lincoln raced as he drove to an impressive third career win in the 25-lap 410 Sprint car main, winning over Jim Siegel, Greg Hodnett, Brian Leppo and Fred Rahmer.
The 358 Sprint car feature was won by 2009 track champ Dale Hammaker over Billy Dietrich, Michael Ruttcamp, Cris Eash and Nathan Berwager.
Winchester Speedway opened the 2011 season on Saturday night, where it was Roy Deese, Jr. scoring the Late Model win over Jamie Lathroum, Keith Jackson, Walker Arthur and Darryl Hills.
Williams Grove Speedway canceled its Friday night show, while the Saturday night events at Hagerstown, Port Royal and Selinsgrove speedways were all canceled due to the weather. Several Micro Sprint tracks raced over the weekend as well.
Hopefully the temperatures will start to rebound for this weekend. So until next week, e-mail reaches me at Bvores@comcast.net.
