A crowd of hundreds stood outside McConnellsburg High School on Sunday braving the cold to watch the Lady Spartans basketball team return victorious from the PIAA Class A girls basketball final played in Hershey on Saturday. The Lady Spartans took the title in a heart-stopping 66-60 victory over defending state champions Pottsville Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary.

Rev. David Hoover is in critical condition in the coronary care unit of Washington County Hospital.

The State Health Department has released new information this week regarding the closing of the Fulton County Clinic now located at Penn’s Village Shopping Center. That information includes the department’s intention to continue providing immunizations in the area. The Health Department intends to provide the same level of services to Fulton Countians but in a more consolidated location. No site for the immunization clinics has yet been chosen.

Darryl Heckman, McConnellsburg, captured two prizes at the Pennsylvania Taxidermy Association’s annual state competitions held early in March at Gettysburg. He captured a second place in waterfowl competition with his Canada goose and a third in the turkey category for his Eastern wild turkey.

Jacqueline Mellott and Brian Clevenger, both of Mc- Connellsburg, were united in marriage March 1 at United Presbyterian Church in McConnellsburg. Parents of the couple are F. Delmar Mellott of Harrisonville and B. Lindell Mellott of McConnellsburg and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Clevenger of McConnellsburg.

Kevin and Valerie Centi are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Emily Ruth Centi, February 16 at Fulton County Medical Center.
