Open Mic Night Anniversary Held
Folks arrived early for the first anniversary of Open Mic Night at the Warfordsburg Senior Citizens’ building. By 6 p.m. the audience filled the building, musicians were on stage and the kitchen open for refreshments. A touch of St. Patrick’s Day filtered through the evening with a poem and several songs to coincide with the theme. Don Unger led the audience with an inspiring sing-along of, “In The Sweet By and By” and “The Old Country Church.” The Silver Creek Band consisting of Robert Burton, Daryl Funk and Scott Gordon presented an all-time favorite, “That Long Black Train.” One member said she believed this was the largest crowd attending an Open Mic Night. “People come for entertainment, fellowship and refreshments and we provide it all,” she added. New talents are always welcome, so if you have a song in your heart or play an instrument, bring your talent to the next event on Saturday, April 9. Everyone is welcome on the stage, young and old alike, and maybe you will claim a prize as Mary Grove did when she took home a huge spring basket filled with goodies.
