Tom and Mamie Streightiff recently enjoyed a vacation in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. Yes, they were there for the tsunami and while there, Tom also developed a torn retina in his eye but they still had a great vacation and enjoyed temperatures in the 70’s and 80’s. They missed their kids but they really, really missed their grandson Jase and enjoyed the day with him on Friday.

Betty Ramsey and Joe, Melanie, Cody and Dison Myers travelled to Pittsburgh on Saturday to celebrate Dison’s 16th birthday. Hilary and Eric Costello, Holly and Aden Forslund and Michael joined them at the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner and a trip up the incline.

Brent and Joan Carlson, Steve, Karen, Terri and Tammy Grissinger, Maddison Wible and Ramon Martin enjoyed dinner at the Crazy Horse restaurant in Hagerstown on Saturday evening.

Travis Madden was surprised with “over the hill” balloons for his 40th birthday on Saturday.

Congratulations to Cory Hearn, son of Dave and Sue Hearn, and Hilary Patterson, daughter of Curt and Amy Patterson, who were married on Saturday afternoon at the Dublin Mills Community Church. The newlyweds will be residing in the family farmhouse on Maddensville Pike near Orbisonia.

Brenden Lupey, Terri Grissinger, and Norm and Janet Sipes were seen tapping their feet to the tunes of “Footloose” on Thursday evening in the Forbes Road auditorium.

Visiting recently with the Steve and Karen Grissinger family were Kurtis, Rhonda and Maddison Wible, Travis Madden, Brent Carlson, Ramon Martin, Donna Locke, Justin Locke, Buzz and Bea Covert, and Mike, Patty, Kevin and Chris Pintozzi and friend Danielle.

Steve and Karen Grissinger visited on Saturday with Marty and Denise Sinkiewicz.

Tom and Mamie Streightiff and grandson Jase Watkins visited with Steve and Karen Grissinger on Sunday afternoon. Jase is growing like a weed and enjoyed seeing all the farm animals.

Tyrel Greenland, son of Gary and Anita Greenland, is in Afghanistan for a few months and will enjoy hearing from home. His address is 455 EAMXS/F-15E/RECCE BAF APO, AE 09352.

Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. will hold shooting matches at the firehall every Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. until further notice.

Open stage will be held at the firehall on Saturday, March 26, beginning at 6 p.m. The kitchen will open at 5 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out and share their talent or enjoy the talent of others.

The Three Springs Volunteer Fire Co. will have a pork and sauerkraut dinner on Sunday, April 3, beginning at 11 a.m.
