Environmental Open House An Environmental open house and Festival of the Arts will be held Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Southern Fulton Elementary. There will be demonstrations on spinning, music, basket weaving, wood turning, calligraphy, quilting, jewelry making, fly tying, food, art displays and hiking.
Cookie Dough Sale Knobsville United Methodist Church is taking orders for cookie dough made by The Butcher Shoppe in Chambersburg. Cookie dough flavors available are soft sugar, oatmeal raisin, snickerdoodle, chocomeal, peanut butter, molasses and chocolate chip. All cookie dough comes packed in 3-pound tubs and each tub is $13. Delivery is Wednesday, April 13, just in time for Easter. Orders are due by Sunday, March 27, and may be placed by calling Colleen Kylor at 485-4532 or Melanie Schoen at 987-3204.
Farmland Preservation Program Fulton County Conservation District will be accepting applications for the Farmland Preservation program from February 1 to March 31. Landowners interested in the program must complete an application available at the Conservation District office. All applicants are required to pay a $100, nonrefundable application fee at the time the application is submitted. All properties must meet the minimum eligibility requirements of the program to be considered for conservation easement purchase. More information may be obtained by calling 717-485-3547, Ext. 121.

55 Alive Class The classroom refresher course for 55 Alive/Mature Driving will be offered at Warfordsburg Senior Center on March 22 and 23. Classes are from 9:30 a.m. to noon and two days of classes are required. Preregister, either in person or by mailing check payable to AARP for $14 (per person non-member or $12 per person AARP member) to Warfordsburg Senior Center, 209 Long Hollow Road, Warfordsburg, PA 17267. Include phone number. Graduates of the class, age 55 and over, will be eligible for the 3-year auto insurance discounts. If planning on staying for lunch following the class, make reservations when registering. There are no tests involved.
CF Registration Central Fulton School District will hold registration for the 2011-12 school year Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 4, 5 and 6. Children who will be age 4 on or before August 24 are eligible for the 4K program and children who will be age 5 on or before August 24, 2011, are eligible for kindergarten. Please note that students who are currently enrolled in the 4K program do not need to reregister for 5K. Contact Stacy Morton at 485-7072 to schedule an appointment.
AARP Tax Help Free tax help and e-filing is available for taxpayers with low or middle income. Any age, not just elderly, at Fulton Theatre behind F&M Trust, McConnellsburg, every Wednesday starting February 2 to April 13, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers wil prepare federal, state, local and rent and property tax rebate. Please bring all the following: last year’s income tax returns, current years tax forms such as W- 2s, 1099-Int., 1099-Div. 1099-B, 1099-R, Social Security, etc. Must have last year’s taxes to be able to e-file. No business or farms. There are 10 preparers who are certified by the IRS. More information may be obtained by calling 717-987-3915. No parking on F&M Trust parking lot.
VFW Election The annual election of officers for VFW Post 655 will be held at the regular meeting April 7, at 7 p.m. A special election will also take place for vacancies in offices of the Fulton Overseas Veterans Assoc. the same evening.
AARP Driver Safety Program The classroom refresher course for the AARP Driver Safety program will be offered at McConnellsburg Senior Center, 100 Woodside Drive, Mc- Connellsburg, April 11 and 12. There will be two days of classes starting at 9:30 a.m. to noon each day. Advanced registration is required. Cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers. Make check payable to AARP. Signup in person, by phone at 485-5613 or by mail. Graduates of the class age 55 and over will be eligible for 3-year auto insurance discounts. If there is more than one person over 55 on the insurance policy, all must complete the class to be eligible for the discount. If planning on staying for dinner at the center following the class call the day before so that a meal can be ordered.
