Kermit E. Mellott

Orbisonia, 89

Kermit E. Mellott, 89, a resident of Woodland Retirement Home in Orbisonia, and formerly of Needmore, died Monday, March 7, 2011, at Woodland Retirement Home, Orbisonia.

He was born in Needmore, on March 19, 1921, the son of the late Lester and Lola (DeShong) Mellott. He was the widower of Velma (Strait) Mellott.

He served in the U. S. Army in WW II, was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, was a township supervisor and a dairy farmer all of his life.

He is survived by daughters Judith (wife of Sheldon) Mellott of Greencastle; Carman Joan ( wife of Paul) Johnson of Hancock; son Donald Mellott of Needmore; stepdaughter Melody Hixon of Warfordsburg; four grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by second wife Dorothy (Hann) Mellott and sister Margaret Mellott.

Religious services were at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Pastor Doug Poffenberger officiated.

Interment at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore.

Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Military services will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
