Catherine V.M. Swope
Born in Wells Valley, Fulton County, December 12, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Justus and Nellie (Simpson) Wilson. She was the wife of the late Willis Swope.
She was a member of longstanding in the Everett Seventh- day Adventist Church and a 1950 graduate of Hustontown High School.
She worked for many years at the Sagner’s sewing factory in McConnellsburg. After leaving Fulton County, she was head cook at the Landmark Restaurant in Bedford for many years and loved to cook.
She loved playing the piano, organ and the accordion. She loved singing and writing songs and poetry and even had one song recorded some years ago. She also loved crocheting and made many beautiful afghans. She loved animals and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds in the summer. She was known for her green thumb and had many flowers in and around her home. She was a very independent woman and a caring, loving mother and a wonderful sister. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Sharon, Steve, Tom, Audrey, Julie, Tim, Margie, Stanley and Jenny; numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; several brothers and sisters: Alvin Wilson, Tennessee; Jim Wilson, Enid; Martha Sheffield, Fort Littleton; Beryl Strait, Dry Run; Nellie Mote, New Mexico; Beverly Jeanne, Elizabethtown; and Jerry Wilson, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Kenneth and Bruce Wilson.
Funeral services were held at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home in Alum Bank Thursday, March 11. Burial was made at Wells Valley Methodist Cemetery on March 12.
