Elderly Woman, Daughter Killed In Eastern Pennsylvania

ALBURTIS, Pa. (AP) – Authorities in eastern Pennsylvania say two women found dead in their home were killed.

The Lehigh County coroner’s office says the deaths of 82-year-old Althea Walbert and her 59-year-old daughter, Jeanette Walbert, were homicides. Their bodies were found at 9 a.m. Friday morning in their home in Alburtis. Authorities have not said how they died but say an autopsy is planned Saturday.

State and local police are investigating the deaths along with the district attorney’s office and the coroner’s office.

Neighbors told The (Allentown) Morning Call that Althea Walbert was wellknown in the area and kind to others. But they said it was also widely known that she carried large amounts of cash and her home had no phone.
