Chauncey McGarvey, local businessman, has purchased the Western Auto store and its merchandise from Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Leaman. The Leamans, who have operated the local store for the past three years, are considering another Western Auto store in the vicinity of Mount Joy, Pa., near their original home.
The all-around champions for the year, sharpshooters Bill Barnhart and Bill Cromwell, were presented with medals at the annual banquet enjoyed by members and guests of the Fulton Pistol and Rifle Club, held at the Mc- Connellsburg Firehall last Wednesday night.
William Bryan Lane, son of Mr. and Mrs. William G. Lane of Hustontown, has been awarded a Development Scholarship from Eastern Nazarene College, Quincy, Mass., for the current year. Lane, a member of the Mt. Tabor Church of the Nazarene, graduated from Forbes Road High School in 1969. He is a psychology major.
David W. Shives Jr. of Harrisonville, Kenneth Wayne Keebaugh of Hustontown, Ada Jane Adams and Karen Marie Keebaugh, both of McConnellsburg, and Sarah C. Peck of Warfordsburg were named to the dean’s list at Shippensburg State College for the winter term.
Construction of a sewerage system in Saxton, Pa., is expected to begin early this spring.

On Sunday, February 28, Miss Twana Leona Hill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alton D. Hill of Warfordsburg, and Gary Anson Rouzer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Rouzer of Harrisonville, were united in marriage at Pleasant Grove United Church of Christ near Needmore.
A surprise dinner was served to 48 people at the Needmore Firehall on March 7 in honor of the 35th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence J. McKee of Warfordsburg, given by their children.
Airman Rodney A. Keefer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar E. Keefer of Big Cove Tannery, has completed an aerospace ground equipment repairman course at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois and is now serving a tour of duty in Vietnam.
Roger Souders, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Souders of McConnellsburg, left on Monday from Friendship Airport in Baltimore for a tour of duty with the U.S. Air Force in Thailand.
Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Downes have returned home from a tour of the Western states which took them to Hollywood, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Burbank, San Diego and New Orleans. While in Hollywood, they saw some of the popular “live” TV shows that originate there.
