Regina E. Heller
Regina Exline Heller, 101 years, 8 months and 2 days, of Hancock, died Tuesday February 22, 2011, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born Sunday in Hancock, June 20, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Harry Francis and Mercy Rosalie Faith Exline and the widow of Allan Fost Heller, who died October 18, 1992, and whom she married November 25, 1936 in Hancock.
She was a 1927 graduate of Hancock High School and a 1931 graduate with a bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph College, Emmitsburg, Md.
She had been employed by the Washington County Social Services as a social worker.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Hancock, and a member of St. Peter Ladies Society, Hancock Garden Club, PTA and the Hancock Historical Society.
She is survived by two daughters: Mercy H. Elbin, Warfordsburg; Penny Heller Barg and husband Arnie of Moyock, N.C.; one son, Allan E. Heller of Hancock; six grandchildren: Eileen Drexel and husband David, Pasadena, Md.; Jenni Heller, Portland, Ore. and Chesapeake, Va.; Bret Elbin and wife Deb, Chambersburg; Bart Elbin and wife Karen, Warfordsburg; Dr. Chris Heller and wife Dr. Stephanie, Altadena, Calif.; 11 great-grandchildren; two step-great-granddaughters; and one stepgreat great-grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, February 26, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church. Rev John Lombardi was celebrant. Burial was in the adjoining church cemetery.
