Texting Scam Seeks Pa. Credit Union Information

BEAVER, Pa. (AP) – Detectives on one western Pennsylvania county say they’re investigating a texting scam in which someone pretending to be with a local credit union is asking people for their personal financial information.

KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh is reporting that Beaver County detectives are investigating the texts which prompted complaints Wednesday by the people who received them.

Police in New Brighton and Beaver Falls say someone claiming to be from the Beaver Valley Federal Credit Union is sending the texts. The credit union isn’t involved, but whoever is sending the messages is asking people to provide their debit and credit card information.

Nobody has been charged in the scam.
