FR Musical Set For March 17-19
On the heels of overwhelming support for its first musical last spring, Forbes Road High School’s Drama Club is thrilled to hit the stage once more. After months of reading, memorizing, building, painting, sewing, singing and dancing, prepare for a flashback to the ’80s as they bring “Footloose” to Fulton County!
“Footloose” is most widely known from the 1984 movie version starring Kevin Bacon. The story begins when Chicago boy Ren (played by freshman Kyle Schoen) is forced to move to the conservative, small town of Bomont and discovers that dancing and rock and roll are illegal. After rallying the support of his classmates, including the reverend’s daughter, Ariel (played by sophomore Olivia Mills), Ren battles the law all the way to the town hall.
Over two decades later, viewers are still tapping to the beat of “Let’s Hear It For the Boy.” “Holding Out For a Hero,” “Almost Paradise,” and the title song “Footloose.”
Much larger than last year’s cast, this year’s musical features more than 50 of Forbes’ finest directed for the first time by language arts teacher Stephanie Beckner.
Mark your calendars for March 17, March 18 and March 19 at 7 p.m Admission is $6. The PTO will host a spaghetti dinner prior to the shows on March 18 and March 19 and a silent auction will run all three nights.
