Racing Roundup

By Brad Vores

Score one for Mother Nature!

Last week’s snowfall coupled with late week rain prompted Lincoln Speedway to cancel its Saturday East Coast opener for 410 Sprint cars. The track has now pushed back the Icebreaker 30 until this Saturday afternoon, with a rain date of Sunday at the same time.

Speaking of this weekend, the first of three Bug Days at Port Royal Speedway has been canceled for Saturday. The Port plans two more Bug Days, one next Saturday the 12th and another on Wednesday the 16th prior to opening night on March 19.

Hagerstown Speedway’s annual Race-A-Rama car show is scheduled to take place at the Valley Mall in Hagerstown this week Thursday through Saturday with lots of race cars expected to fill the mall. Make sure you stop out and get an upclose look at some of the hot rides before they get down and dirty on the track.

The World of Outlaws was back in action over the weekend as the two oldest drivers on the circuit continued to kick some butt! Steve Kinser won Friday night at Pike County Speedway in Mississippi, while Sammy Swindell took the win at Royal Purple Raceway on Saturday in Texas.

Kinser’s third win of the season came over Jason Sides, Cody Darrah, Joey Saldana and David Grave,l while Lance Dewease made the tow west and finished ninth.

Swindell scored his first WoO win but third overall win of the year over Sides, Craig Dollansky, Danny Lasoski and Chad Kemenah. Dewease finished 12th. The Outlaws head west to Las Vegas for shows Wednesday and Thursday, and Dewease will follow the tour before heading home.

That’s a wrap for another week and, as always, e-mail reaches me at Bvores@comcast.net.
