Mildred E. Hampton

Needmore, 85

Mildred E. Hampton , 85, Needmore, died Friday, February 25, 2011, at Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born in Rosman, N.C., on March 10, 1925, the daughter of the late James and Clara (Batson) Nelson. She was the widow of Carl Nathan Hampton, whom she married in 1955. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1981.

She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, Needmore, worked as a seamstress at London Fog in Hancock, Md., and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her sons: Jeffrey L. Hampton of Needmore; Ronald E. Hampton of Bedford; Russell L. Hampton of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brothers: Don, Jack and Charles Nelson; and sisters: Eugenia Callahan and Betty Hampton.

Funeral services were at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011. Rev. Roger Truax officiated. Interment was at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Needmore.
