From The Files Of February 28, 1991

The larger Fulton County community was left reeling Tuesday when it was learned that Dr. Susan Peck and Dr. Steven Sheppard as well as physician Dr. Michael Peck will be leaving their practices here. Doctors Peck and Sheppard practice obstetrics and gynecology under the clinic name Mountain View OB/GYN with offices in McConnellsburg and St. Thomas, while Dr. Michael Peck is in family practice in McConnellsburg. With just eight doctors practicing medicine in the county, losing Drs. Peck, Peck and Sheppard means the county is losing more than one-third of its doctors at one time.

What probably began as a playful romp on a sunny and warm winter late afternoon quickly turned to tragedy when a young boy was somehow killed by one or more of three family dogs which he had freed from their pens. Christopher Thompson, 10, foster child of John and Mary Black of Hustontown, died Thursday, February 21, in the yard outside the Black’s home off Pa. Route 475 in Dublin Township. For some reason the boy freed all three dogs and for unknown reasons, one or more of the dogs attacked and killed the boy.

The new owners of JGR Enterprises have moved their manufacturing business into new buildings at 536 East Poplar Street, McConnellsburg, and are inviting the public to tour the new facilities. John A. Kelso and wife Linda purchased the former Fort Littleton manufacturing business in June of 1989 under the corporate name of Jackal Inc.

Mr. and Mrs. Brent Gordon of McConnellsburg are proud to announce the birth of their second son, Justin Levi, on February 14 at Hershey Medical Center.
