We had some of those early spring thunder showers on Monday moring. Spring is fast approaching. Robins have also been sighted.

Our sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Matt Grante on the loss of their baby. Also our sympathy to the family and relatives of Joan Knepper, who passed away last week. We extend sympathy also to the family and relatives on the tragic death of Tina Souders last week.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor a shooting match on Saturday, March 5, at 1 p.m. Shells will be furnished and prizes awarded. The firemen wish to thank everyone for their support.

Happy birthday to Bronwyn Mundorf on March 1.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage on Saturday, March 26 at 6 p.m. The kitchen opens at 5 p.m. Admission is free. Come out and share your talent or come out and enjoy the talent of others.

A benefit spaghetti dinner will be held at Hustontown Firehall on Sunday, March 6 at 1 p.m. for a Three Springs area lady fighting cancer. Menu will be spaghetti, fruit salad, dinner roll, dessert and beverage. Cost is $7. Support will be greatly appreciated.

The fire company is also selling Hustontown afghans featuring 11 different landmarks in the Hustontown area in three different colors for $39.99 each. They make nice gifts for Easter or any other occasion. To order, call 987-3108 or 987-3783.

June Bennett of Carlisle spent Saturday with Kate Berkstresser and also Harvey Berkstresser spent most of the day in the same home.

Garden hint: Fertilize your tulips with a commercial bulb food in early spring before their tips open. Just spread it over the bed, rake it lightly into the soil and let spring showers take care of the rest.
