Autopsy Set On Pa. Woman, 83, Found In Creek
GIBSONIA, Pa. (AP) – An autopsy is set on the body of an 83-year-old Pittsburgh area woman found in a creek downstream from where police say she crashed her car in about five feet of water.
West Deer police say the dead woman is 83-year-old Mae Scheerbaum.
Police say the woman lived alone and may have suffered from dementia.
A man fishing spotted the car about 7: 40 a. m. Thursday in Deer Creek along Route 910. Police believe Scheerbaum veered of the highway and into the creek and may not have realized she was in water, or how deep it was.
At first, police searched the woman’s home believing she may have been able to walk away from the crash. But now police suspect her body was carried 500 yards downstream where it was found about 90 minutes later.
