Fulton County Commissioners Tuesday met with two representatives of the Palmer Group to discuss any long-range plans the county may possibly consider for a county jail. Palmer Group officials would be available to help in anyway with possible future county jail plans, particulary related to the $200,000,000 county jail referendum passed by Pennsylvania voters in last November’s general election.

About 250 to 300 persons attended a public hearing held February 19 in the Southern Fulton High School auditorium to review the Southern Fulton School Board’s proposed $7.95 million elementary school construction project.

Roy Gordon and Doris Strait were honored last Tuesday by the McConnellsburg Sewerage Authority Board of Directors for longtime service to the authority and the company. Gordon has served as president of the board from 1980 until his retirement at the end of 1990. Strait has been at her post at the plant since January 1971.

It’s a milestone that most varsity basketball players do not set for a goal. It is one of those things that just kind of happens. It is reaching the 2,000-point plateau in basketball. Saturday, McConnelsburg High School girls basketball standout Marla McElhaney reached that highlight in her career. Needing just 21 points entering the contest against Fannett-Metal, the senior burned the nets for 26 points, putting her at 2,005 career points.

Roy Wilson of Maddensville celebrated his 84th birthday on February 21. A party was held in his honor on February 16 at the home of his daughter, Eunice Marshall of McConnellsburg.
