Girls Basketball

Forbes Road 58, Hyndman 39

Forbes Road commanded a decent lead going into halftime and pulled away for a 58-39 Sideling Hill League win over the Hyndman Hornets Monday. Jess Gearhart poured in 14 points during the match, and Samantha Clippinger followed with 11. Corri Parsons, Shania Gelvin and Kaili Hockensmith all added six points.

Southern Fulton 57,

Everett 39

Southern Fulton extended a one-point lead after the halftime break into a 18- point Sideling Hill League victory over the Everett Warriors on Monday. Chelsie Eader netted 20 points, and Macey Hollenshead chipped in 15. Lacey Beatty rounded out the game with 11 points, three assists, eight rebounds and four steals.

Tussey Mountain 51,

McConnellsburg 31

McConnellsburg wasn’t able to ignite its offense on Monday, ending the Sideling Hill League match against the Tussey Mountain Titans with a disappointing 20-point loss. Libby Strayer reached double digits to lead the Lady Spartans with 11 points.

Everett 50,

McConnellsburg 30

Everett posted double digits during two periods, but McConnellsburg did manage to narrow the gap to eight points on Saturday before falling 50-30. Nikki Fleming had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Lady Spartans, and Santana Ramsey followed with six points.

Southern Fulton 87,

Hancock 33

Lacey Beatty ended Saturday’s matchup against Hancock with a triple-double after having totalled 18 points, 12 assists and 10 steals for the victorious Southern Fulton Lady Indians. Meanwhile, Courtney Strait hit a season-high 19 points, but it was Chelsie Eader who led her teammates with a game-high 25 points during the 54-point victory.

Southern Fulton 48,

McConnellsburg 28

Southern Fulton increased its winning record to four straight Thursday night when the Lady Indians downed the McConnellsburg Spartans by 20 points. Lacey Beatty scored 15 points, and Chelsie Eader had 10 points, five rebounds and seven steals. For Mc- Connellsburg, Nikki Fleming and Becca Hahn posted nine and eight points, respectively.

Fannett-Metal 52,

Forbes Road 35

Having dropped two games earlier in the season, Fannett-Metal got its revenge Thursday night and trounced the Forbes Road Cardinals 52-35. Freshman Shania Gelvin was the high scorer for the Lady Cardinals with eight points, and Samantha Clippinger and Jess Gearhart followed with seven and six points, respectively.

Mercersburg 34,

McConnellsburg 33

The McConnellsburg Lady Spartans came up short at the foul line last Tuesday and narrowly dropped a non-league game to Mercersburg Academy by the score of 34-33. Nikki Fleming managed 12 points for McConnellsburg, and Valerie Green contributed five points.

Southern Fulton 35,

Chestnut Ridge 29

Southern Fulton made a big comeback in the fourth period last Tuesday and cruised to a six-point victory over Chestnut Ridge. Lacey Beatty led her Lady Indian teammates with 19 points and three steals, and Macey Hollenshead also reached double figures with 10 points, seven rebounds and two assists.

Tussey Mountain 55,

Forbes Road 38

The Forbes Road Cardinals committed 38 turnovers on Tuesday but did manage to shoot 43 percent from the field during a 55-38 Sideling Hill League loss to Tussey Mountain. Jess Gearhart tallied 16 points and five rebounds, and teammate Kylynne Fraker added six points.

Hancock 67,

Southern Fulton 62

In spite of team leader Ryan Harper tallying 35 points, the Southern Fulton Indians fell short Saturday during a five-point loss to Hancock, Md. Harper also had 10 rebounds and three steals during the non-league match, while Damon Gordon was the next highest scorer with nine points.

Forbes Road 55,

Fannett-Metal 34

Fannett-Metal was given three technical fouls late in the third period Friday and Forbes Road quickly capitalized on the Tigers’ lack of coaching from the sidelines for an intense 55-34 Sideling Hill League victory. Reaching a career-high 31 points, Tanner Henry scored more than half of the Cardinals’ points and also grabbed 18 rebounds and blocked seven shots. Chris Everts and Brett Burger were the next highest scorers with eight and six points respectively.

Southern Fulton 65,

McConnellsburg 34

Both the Southern Fulton Indians and the McConnellsburg Spartans were short key players Friday evening, but it was the Indians who prevailed 65-34 for the Sideling Hill League win. Ryan Harper netted 26 points and 14 rebounds for Southern Fulton, and teammate Nick Smartt also reached double figures with 12 points and three steals. Tony White poured in 11 points for McConnellsburg, and Jesse Swope and Tyler Green both added six.

McConnellsburg 51,

Southern Huntingdon 48

McConnellsburg picked up its second consecutive win on Thursday and brought its record to 3-16 with a 51-48 overtime victory against Southern Huntingdon. Billy Fleming tied his career-high record of 18 points and also grabbed eight rebounds. Teammate Tony White followed with 11 points, four steals, three assists, eight rebounds and three blocked shots.

Greencastle 60,

Southern Fulton 57

Southern Fulton jumped out to a 12-point lead early on and outscored Greencastle in two periods last Wednesday but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Blue Devils the non-league game 60-57. Ryan Harper scored just shy of half the Indians’ overall points with 28, while Nathan Keebaugh tallied 12 points. Damon Gordon was the next highest scorer with nine.

Northern Bedford 46,

Forbes Road 44

Three members of the Forbes Road squad reached double figures last Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Northern Bedford Panthers. During the two-point Sideling Hill League loss, Chris Everts had 16 points and 12 rebounds. Tanner Henry posted 15 points and three blocked shots, while Tristan Gelvin added 12 points.
