Worker Killed In Accident Outside Pa. Coke Plant
ERIE, Pa. (AP) – Officials say a front-end loader struck and killed a worker outside a coke plant in northwestern Pennsylvania.
The accident happened outside the Erie Coke Corp. plant shortly before noon on Saturday.
The Erie County coroner has identified the worker as 39-year-old Paul Benes, and said he died from blunt-force trauma. The death has been ruled an accident.
Coroner Lyell Cook says the worker apparently walked in front of the frontend loader and the operator didn’t see him.
Benes was pronounced dead at a hospital about a half-hour later.
