Courthouse Bell Rehung

The courthouse clock bell was hoisted back to the clock tower Friday after the bell’s cradle was repaired and the bell cleaned. The half ton bell was cast in 1879 by Meneely and Kimberly Founders of Troy, N.Y. The names of the sitting commissioners at the time are engraved on the bell: Daniel Covalt, Joab L. Deneen and Amos C. Field. The refurbished clock tower is nearing completion with new clock faces done by Stoner Graphic, rebuilt housing by Mike Clevenger and copper work by Blair Roofing. The original clock works still run and have been retained. The courthouse clock bell was hoisted back to the clock tower Friday after the bell’s cradle was repaired and the bell cleaned.
