A fire of suspicious origin gutted an unoccupied house on Route 655 south of Hustontown last

Thursday and police and the fire marshal’s office were called in to investigate. As a result, the fire marshal has determined that the fire was deliberately set after a flammable liquid was spread over the living room area. The property is owned by Woodrow and Betty Malot of Hustontown and had been vacant.

The latest sport to gain popularity in Fulton County is gymnastics. About 70 young people, ages 3 and up, train regularly in the sport on weekends. And two young girls, Mindy and Missi Hall, belong to an officially sanctioned gymnastics team and have qualified for the Eastern Pennsylvania sectional competition to be held in Lancaster this weekend.

For the first time in 15 years, the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce failed to present a “Man of the Year” award at the organization’s annual awards banquet. Breaking with tradition, the chamber, instead, awarded honors to two “Outstanding Citizens,” Max L. Stenger and Marlin Shimer, and presented a special achievement award to Bobby Snyder.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Peck of Needmore celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on December 26.

Rebecca Deshong and Stephen Faith were united in marriage on January 24 at the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob in Hancock. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Deshong of Greencastle and Bishop and Mrs. S.E. Faith of Big Pool, Md.
